Rudolf Ridel

Rudolf Ridel (born March 17, 1828 in Weimar ; † April 2, 1893 there ) was a German landscape painter .

Life

Ridel studied at the universities of Heidelberg and Jena . In Heidelberg he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia in 1846 and in Jena in 1847 a member of the Corps Saxonia . After graduating, he became an officer . As Major a. D. He became a student of Theodor Hagen at the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar from 1876–81, and from then on worked in Weimar as a landscape painter. Ridel's paintings ended up in the collection of the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg .
