Rudolf Seidl (born November 28, 1897 ; † after 1935) was an Austrian national soccer player .

Career

Rudolf Seidl began his career at Floridsdorfer AC , where he scored his first goals in the first class as a right winger in 1919/20 . He quickly played his way into the Austrian national team , in which he played for the first time on September 26, 1920 in a 3-2 draw against Germany . In the team, the winger was regularly in international action, with his club he had to accept relegation somewhat unhappily in 1922/23 . Rudolf Seidl did not go to the second class, but switched to the larger Vienna , with which he was able to mix at the front in the championship. In both 1923/24 and 1925/26 he was runner- up with the club , and in 1925 he was in the cup final - in all three cases you failed only because of the amateurs .

Rudolf Seidl could not always bring the performance with the blue and yellow from Döbling that one had hoped for from a team striker. This was mainly due to the fact that during his FAC time, which established his reputation, he lived mainly from the interaction with Karl Jiszda , with whom he caused a sensation on the right wing. Ultimately, after a brief return to the FAC in the spring of 1926, Rudolf Seidl played in the Vienna combat team until 1928 and was even brought back to the team by Hugo Meisl after a four-year break for the international match against Sweden in Stockholm on September 29, 1928 . Despite numerous critical voices, he scored the winning goal to make it 3-2.

After his active career, he hit the coaching career and initially looked after the second-class Brigittenauer AC , with which the promotion to the top division succeeded. From spring 1931 to the end of 1932 he was a coach at FK Austria Wien . He later returned to the FAC and from 1935 also took over the post of head coach for a few years. He also became chairman of the players' union, an interest group for professional players in Vienna.
