Rudolf Seiferlein

Rudolf "Rudi" Seiferlein (born March 21, 1921 in Neu-Isenburg ; † December 14, 2010 there ) was a German wholesale merchant who made a living in his hometown through voluntary work.

Life

Seiferlein fell in the Second World War in Soviet captivity from which he only returned the 1950s. Back in Neu-Isenburg he joined Spvgg. 03 Neu-Isenburg , where he held various positions until 1970, including first chairman.

From 1970 he chaired the association of interests he co-founded in 1964 - an umbrella institution to which 63 associations with a total of 9,940 members belonged in 2010 - and was appointed honorary chairman in 1978. In his hometown, Seiferlein was considered to be the best-informed citizen after the mayor and was popularly referred to as "Lord Mayor". He was active as a contact person and mediator in club matters for the city and was partly involved in a large number of sporting, cultural and social initiatives, including new buildings and refurbishments of sports and cultural facilities such as the local club house.

Seiferlein was awarded the plaque of honor and the great plaque of honor of the city of Neu-Isenburg, the letter of honor from the State of Hesse and the Federal Cross of Merit for his voluntary work. In 2014 the city of Neu-Isenburg dedicated a newly built leisure and sports hall to him.
