Rudi Washer

Rudi Wascher , actually Rudolf Wascher (born June 2, 1904 in Hirschburg (near Ribnitz ), † February 1, 1956 in Munich ) was a German politician. From 1931 to 1933 he was secretary of the KPD , after the Second World War a city councilor in Cologne and a member of the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

The trained construction worker became a member of the KPD at a young age. From about 1927 to 1933 he lived in Bad Honnef . Here he became politically active together with Wilhelm Pinnecke and was a candidate for the district assembly of the Siegkreis in 1929. A year later it was put up in the Reichstag elections in the Cologne-Aachen constituency. From 1931 to 1933 he acted as party secretary for the Trier sub-district. In the 1932 Reichstag elections, he ran as a candidate in the Koblenz-Trier constituency. As an opponent of National Socialism, Wascher escaped arrest in March 1933 by escaping from the police officers who wanted to pick him up for questioning through a window in his apartment. He reached France via Holland. In Toulouse , Lyon and in the Maquis , together with his wife Maria and other German communists , he fought the Nazis from underground. The Wascher couple belonged to the Travail allemand of the French Communist Party and the Resistance and were the liaison of the KPD western line to German fighters in the Maquis. During this time, the Wascher family (with the children Willy and Sonja) were hidden and protected by Mr. Marius Bouvet (executed by the Gestapo / Savoi-Leman on February 26, 1944) and his family.

After the war, Wascher returned to Germany. From October 2, 1946 to June 13, 1952, he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and from 1948 to 1950 city councilor in Cologne. During this time he was secretary of the state leadership of the KPD in North Rhine-Westphalia and a member of IG Bau . Rudolf Wascher had son Willy and daughter Sonja.
