Rudolf Watzl
Rudolf Watzl (born April 14, 1882 in Vienna ; † August 15, 1915 ) was an Austrian wrestler in the lightweight class.
Watzl only started regular training at the "First Wiener Ringsportclub" at the age of 22. In 1906 he traveled to the Olympic interludes in Athens with only a few minor successes . There he was able to surprisingly win all fights in his class and secure the gold medal. In the additional competition of all class winners, he also did excellently and came third. After these two medals, however, there were no further successes. Watzl died at the age of 33 of typhus, which he was infected with during the First World War while a Russian prisoner of war.
