Rudolf Weiner

Rudolf A. Weiner (born September 8, 1951 in Torgau ) is a German surgeon and university professor. His focus is on minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery . He is chief physician at the Clinic for Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Surgery at Sana Klinikum Offenbach .

Life

After graduating from high school in Herzberg (Elster) , he studied human medicine at the University of Leipzig from 1971 to 1976. In 1975 he graduated summa cum laude and received his doctorate in 1976 at the Charité Medical Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin, also summa cum laude. In 1992 he completed his habilitation at the University of Leipzig, became a private lecturer in surgery at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in 1994 and professor of surgery at the University of Frankfurt am Main in 2000. He is married and has two children.

After completing his doctorate, he worked as a doctor in the district hospital in Zschopau / Erzgebirge. He then moved to the St. Georg Clinic in Leipzig, where he became a specialist in urology in 1981, a specialist in surgery in 1984 and senior surgeon in surgery in 1989. In 1993 he moved to the Northwest Frankfurt am Main hospital as senior surgeon, where he specialized in visceral surgery and became one of the founders of laparoscopic bariatric surgery in Germany. In 2001 he became chief surgeon at Sachsenhausen Hospital in Frankfurt am Main with a focus on bariatric surgery. In 2014 he moved to Sana Klinikum Offenbach, where he founded the Clinic for Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Surgery, a certified center of excellence of the DGAV , which he has been head of since then.
