Rudolf von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (born June 15, 1602 in Wolfenbüttel , † June 13, 1616 in Tübingen ) was a prince of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and as Rudolf III. Bishop of Halberstadt .

Life

Rudolf was a son of Duke Heinrich Julius von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1564-1613) from his second marriage to Elisabeth (1573-1626), the eldest daughter of King Friedrich II of Denmark .

When Rudolf III. he was elected Protestant administrator of the Halberstadt diocese in 1615 on the recommendation of his father by the chapter in Halberstadt , following his younger brother Heinrich Karl , who had died at the age of 5. During his short term in office, the disputes over the occupation of canons by Catholics continued.

Rudolf died two days before his 14th birthday while studying at the University of Tübingen and was buried in the Tübingen collegiate church.
