Rudolph Ballheimer

Rudolf Ballheimer (born June 16, 1852 in Hamburg ; † August 15, 1928 ) was a German high school teacher .

After visiting the Johanneum in Hamburg, Ballheimer studied classical philology in Bonn and received his doctorate there in 1877 with a thesis on Photios . Then he passed the teacher's exam. From 1878 to 1881 he taught at the Protestant grammar school in Strasbourg , from 1881 to 1921 he was a teacher at the Johanneum in Hamburg. For 1899/1900 he was awarded a half travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute for high school teachers. He earned merit primarily through his publications on the history of Hamburg.
