Rudolph Hartmann

Ernst Gotthilf Rudolph Hartmann (born December 1, 1816 in Plön , † January 19, 1893 in Marne ) was a German doctor and local researcher .

Life

Rudolph Hartmann was a son of the pharmacist Carl Friedrich August Hartmann (1783–1850) and his wife Marina, née Jochims (1792–1853). His brothers included the local researcher Friedrich Hartmann and the soldier and author Nicolaus Carl Magdalus Hartmann .

Hartmann attended high school in his hometown and began studying medicine at Kiel University in the winter semester of 1835 . In the first semesters he also studied natural sciences. He completed his studies in 1840 with the state examination and the doctorate to Dr. med. et chir. from. He then assisted Gustav Biedermann Günther at the Friedrichshospital in Kiel. He then worked briefly in Barlt and in 1841 moved to Marne, where he opened a practice as a general practitioner.

Working as a local researcher

Hartmann researched in particular the early history of Dithmarschen. Near Eddelak he discovered the first early historical Wurtensiedlung with clay vessels, note stretchers (weights for looms), spindle and grindstones. He also found a settlement on the Fahrstedter Wurt , for which he made extensive notes.

Hartmann collected numerous items from the rural environment such as traditional costumes and coins. He stored these in rooms that were next to his skat club and from which today's Marner Skat Club Museum emerged. He also found a loose-leaf collection in the Marner pharmacy. It was a copy of the "historical relation" by Hans Dethleff.

family

On September 25, 1845 Hartmann married Sophie Caroline Friederike Gerling (* September 16, 1823) in Süderrade , whose father Friedrich Gottlieb Gerling worked as a farmer. The couple had ten children. The daughter Clara Maria Henriette Amalie (* 1846) married Carl Gottlieb Bünz . The son Carl Friedrich Gottlieb (1849–1912) worked as a pharmacist in Hennstedt and Brunsbüttel . The son Friedrich Wilhelm Hermann Rudolph (1852-1922) was a medical councilor in Meldorf .
