Rudolph Herbst

Rudolph Herbst (also Rudolf Herbst , born April 8, 1890 in Wurzen ; † August 22, 1936 in Nuremberg ) was a German teacher, composer and scholar of antiquity.

In 1913/14 Herbst was a teaching trainee at the old grammar school in Nuremberg . He then studied history and received his doctorate on October 24, 1922 at the University of Erlangen , the dissertation on historians and documents remained unpublished. From December 1924 he was teacher at the Real Gymnasium Nuremberg , as of April 1926. at the Old School.

He wrote over 70 articles on ancient Greek geography for Paulys Realencyclopedia of Classical Classical Antiquities (RE) . In 1935 he composed Bavarian dances .

Herbst died on August 22, 1936 at the age of 46 as a result of an operation.
