The Rue des Vignes is a 490 meter long and 18 meter wide street in the Quartier de la Muette the 16th arrondissement of Paris .

Name origin
The road led through vineyards ( French vignes ) at the castle of Boulainvilliers .
history
The path in the former municipality of Passy was called «Ruelle Saint – Pol» in the 16th century and led past the Boulainvillers Castle.
In 1730 it was called “Rue des Vignes” and connected Rue Basse (now Rue Raynouard ) with La Muette .
When it was added to the directory of the Parisian transport network on May 23, 1863 , it was named "Rue Houdon" in 1875. The current name, which reminds us that wine was grown here in the 17th and 18th centuries , was given to the street by decree of February 1, 1877.

- No. 5: Théâtre Le Renélagh , which was added to the list of cultural monuments of the 16th arrondissement in 1977.
- No. 27: The writer René Boylesve (1867–1926) lived here.
- No. 32: A plaque reminds us that the composer Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) lived here from 1911 until his death.
- No. 34: In the spring of 1939, the Irish writer James Joyce (1882–1941) lived here.
- No. 52: Boulainvilliers station , the station building from 1900, which is still in use today, is the entrance to La Muette station .
- No. 73: A plaque reminds us that the chemist Édouard Bénédictus died here in 1930 .
The celebrated opera dancer Émilie Bigottini (1784-1858) owned a town house on this street.
