The ruin Hofen is the ruin of a spur castle at 670 m above sea level. NN high, steep cliffs that slope into the Schlattstaller Valley east of the municipality of Grabenstetten in the Reutlingen district in Baden-Württemberg .
history
The castle was built before 1323, in this year the Schwenzlin named themselves for the first time after their castle Hofen, it served them as their ancestral seat. The castle was destroyed and fell into disrepair after 1478. In 1535 the castle was mentioned again in connection with an Alexander chapel and mentioned in 1553 as a ruin.
The gate was restored by the castle, next to probably the keep stood. Remains of the surrounding walls, ramparts and moats can still be seen.
