history
The castle was built around 1350 and was the seat of Ivo von Bolligen . In addition to the castle, the surrounding areas between Sense and Scherlibach belonged to the rule . As early as 1386, the castle was destroyed by the Freiburg residents during a conflict between Bern and Freiburg . From 1388, the rule of Riedburg belonged to the city-state of Bern. In the 15th century it came into the possession of the Bernese patrician families von Buch and Brüggler . They built a mansion in the vicinity (substructure made of stone, upper structure made of wood).
