The Rumbeck slopes are a fragmented natural sub-unit with the order number 334.10 of the Oeventrop Ruhr Valley (334.1) within the North Sauerland Oberland (334). They include, according to the Handbook of the Natural Region Divisions of Germany by numerous Talrunsen zerkerbten shadow hanging of Oeventroper Ruhr valley, up to 400  m above sea level. NN rise and are completely forested.

The Rumbeck slopes, sloping north to the Ruhr valley , extend in the Arnsberg city forest south of the Arnsberg town of Rumbeck between the Arnsberg capital in the north-west and Meschede - Freienohl in the east, but without touching the river bank itself, which is assigned to the natural area Oeventroper Ruhrtalgrund (334.11) . The southern border of the Rumbecker Hänge nature area is marked by the ridge formed by the mountains (from west to east) Stockumer Höhe , Westerfelder Stoss , Kreuzkopf , Spellenberg , Henssenberg , Stierkopf and Trenke . The Sundern Forests (334.0) connect to the south and west . The Stockumer Bach , Hellefelder Bach , Großer Kreuzsiepen , Steimecke , Dunkele Steimecke and Mühlenbach stream drain over the Rumbeck slopes into the Ruhr.

Geologically, the Rumbeck slopes consist of Upper Carboniferous slate and greywacke . In the low-soil upper slopes there are natural sites of beech forest . Oak and hornbeam forests predominate in the flatter lower slopes , which are locally covered with loess loam .
