Rumer (born June 3, 1979 in Islamabad , Pakistan ; actually Sarah Joyce ) is a British singer-songwriter . Her father, with whom her mother had an extramarital affair, was Pakistani. The choice of her stage name was inspired by the British author Rumer Godden , who lived in India for a long time.

Live and act

Rumer was signed to Atlantic Records in 2010 . Their debut single Slow been in the program BBC Radio 2 for Record of the Week named and reached after the publication of the Top 20 on the British charts. The debut album Seasons of My Soul was released in late 2010 and entered the British charts at number 3.

In 2012 their second album Boys Don't Cry was released , produced by Steve Brown. It contains covers of songs from the 1970s. In 2014/15 she released the album Into Color , which again only contains songs written by herself. In 2016 Rumer's fourth album This Girl's in Love: A Bacharach and David Songbook was released with songs by Burt Bacharach and Hal David . With Nashville Tears: The Songs of Hugh Prestwood 2020 appeared an album in country style. All 15 tracks on this album are by Hugh Prestwood .
