Rune Christopher Høydahl (born December 10, 1969 in Drammen , Norway ) is a former Norwegian mountain biker , triathlete and two-time Olympic athlete (1996, 2000).
Career
In mountain biking, Høydahl achieved eleven World Cup winners and was second three times in the overall World Cup. At that time, Høydahl was the first to succeed in winning World Cups in downhill and cross country . Between 1992 and 2003 he was a nine-time national mountain bike champion.
In cross country, Høydahl won the silver medal at the 1996 World Championships. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Høydahl started for Norway in cross country mountain biking. Mountain biking was an Olympic discipline for the first time in 1996 and Høydahl came in eleventh. At the 2000 Summer Olympics , Høydahl was there again, but did not reach the goal.
After retiring from active cycling, Høydahl was able to win the second edition of the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon in 2004 and improve the course record by over an hour.
Høydahl lives in Sande , not far south of his birthplace Drammen. Today he leads his own mountain bike team, the Etto / Høydahl team .
