The Ruo is a tributary of the Shire in Malawi and Mozambique .

course

The river has its source in the Mulanje mountain range near the Nandiwo Peak. It initially flows in a southerly direction until it meets the border with Mozambique, which it forms from there. Its further course is in a west-southwest direction until it finally flows into the Shire south of Chiromo .
