Rupert (Wuerzburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rupert († October 11, 1106 on the way to Guastalla ) was from 1105 to 1106 counter-bishop in the diocese of Würzburg .

The dispute over the throne between Emperor Heinrich IV. And his challenger and son Heinrich V was also reflected in the balance of power in the diocese of Würzburg. After Emehard's death, Heinrich IV appointed his chancellor Erlung as bishop with the help of Bishop Otto from Bamberg . This was expelled in July 1105 by Heinrich V and the cathedral provost Rupert was appointed by him. The Metropolitan Mainz , represented by Bishop Ruthard , confirmed him. Now it was Rupert who was driven out by Henry IV, but was reintroduced by Henry V after Erlungs renounced it in October 1105.

Rupert took part in the Mainz Reichstag on January 5, 1106. He died on the way to the Synod of Guastalla on October 11, 1106.
