Rupert Franz
Rupert Franz (born February 5, 1882 in Salzburg , † 1960 ) was an Austrian gynecologist .
Life
Franz studied medicine at the universities of Munich and Vienna and was able to successfully complete this course in 1905 with a doctorate . During his studies in 1901 he became a member of the Vienna academic fraternity Bruna Sudetia . He then worked as an assistant doctor at various clinics and hospitals. During these years the first work was done, which then led to a habilitation in gynecology in Vienna in 1914 .
Franz took part in the First World War as a medic ; he acted as battalion chief physician and was in command of a surgeon group. In 1923 Franz was appointed head of the Maria Theresa Women's Hospital (Vienna) and he held this office until 1939. In that year he took over the gynecological department of the Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Spital (Vienna) as head doctor .
