The Rurtal trio was despite the misleading name, a German comedy - Duo from the left Niederrhein and his own words "Germany's most successful two-man trio". It was founded in 1991 by two schoolmates Marc “Brüh” Breuer (* 1968 in Linnich ) and Christian “Mahoni” Macharski (* 1969 in Wegberg ), both of whom are based in the Rur area of the Heinsberg district . The first performance took place on July 12, 1991 in the parish hall of Erkelenz. After that, the two performed at many cabaret theaters all over Germany and spoke a pronounced Erkelenz / Heinsberger -Land region , but not the original dialect of this region bordering the Netherlands . The fictional protagonists, such as the fire-fighting master Josef Jackels , the farmer Hastenraths Will , the two simpleton Fredi (Jaspers) and (Richard) Borowka as well as the cover rock band "Top Sound" of the so-called Reale-Dorfsatire-Programs of the Rurtal Trio, were always located in the existing Selfkant village of Saeffelen .

In December 2010 it was announced on the website that the Rurtal Trio had disbanded. The reason for this are u. a. the different views on further development. However, both are still active with solo programs.

In December 2015, Macharski and Breuer announced on Facebook that the Rurtal Trio would get together again for seven special appearances in September 2016 for their 25th birthday. All seven performances took place within eight days in the auditorium of the high school in Hückelhoven , six of which were sold out in advance.
