Rusavskia elegans ( syn . Xanthoria elegans ), also known as dainty yellow lichen , is a lichenized tubular fungus of the Teloschistaceae family. Your thallus is folios, it is a leaf lichen .

description

The species is characterized by a regular, rosette-like thallus (camp) that is orange to red in color. The thallus lobes are aligned and elongated. They become over 10 millimeters long and up to one millimeter wide. The apothecaries , often concentrated in the middle, are of the same color as the warehouse.

Location

Calcareous rocks are preferred as the location. It also grows on artificial stone, roof tiles, and gravestones. The delicate yellow lichen is common all over Europe.

In an experiment by the European Space Agency ESA in February 2008, various biological samples were exposed to space conditions on the International Space Station ISS for a year. The delicate yellow lichen was able to survive these hostile conditions in space.

Systematics

Rusavskia elegans was transferred from the genus Xanthoria , recognized by genetic studies as polyphyletic, into the genus Rusavskia . Originally, the genus Rusavskia was defined by a scleroplectenchymatic (network with very thick-walled cells) upper and lower cortex (thallus cortex) and excipulum of the fruiting bodies as well as by missing hapters and by bacilliform conidia. This definition was not genetically tenable, especially since the genus Rusavskia defined in this way would be polyphyletic. The current definition of the genus is therefore primarily purely genetic. Rusavskia elegans shows, although it was originally chosen as a genus trayus, no scleroplectenchyma, has hapters and their conidia are ellipsoid. The original description of the genus did not fit the selected type, or only to a limited extent, which is why the generic description was changed. The only morphological difference to the genus Xanthoria s. st. are narrower praises. Rusavskia is also correspondingly close to Xanthoria s. st. related and forms the sister taxon to the two genera Xanthoria s. st. and Dufourea .

The genus Rusavskia belongs to the subfamily Xanthorioideae within the Teloschistaceae family .
