Rustam Akhmetov
Rustam Akhmetov ( Ukrainian Рустам Ахметов , English transcription Rustam Akhmetov; born May 17, 1950 in Zhytomyr ) is a former Ukrainian high jumper who competed for the Soviet Union .
In 1968 he won bronze at the European Junior Games in Leipzig .
At the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1971 , he won bronze, and at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he was eighth.
In 1973 he came in 18th place at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Rotterdam .
In 1971 he became the Soviet champion with his personal best of 2.23 m.
