Rusty outbreak
The Ruster Ausbruch is a noble sweet white wine made from raisin-like shriveled, noble rotten berries of the Austrian predicate wine level Ausbruch . It is mainly made from the Furmint and Gelber Muskateller grapes; However, the grape varieties Chardonnay , Welschriesling and Pinot Blanc (also cuvées ) are used.
The wine is golden yellow to amber in color and takes a few years to develop. It has a high durability. The Ruster Ausbruch is only obtained in those years in which the berries are attacked by gray mold rot ( Botrytis cinerea ), which is almost always the case due to the special climatic conditions.
According to the Austrian Wine Law , the outbreak must have a sugar concentration of at least 27 ° KMW (138 ° Oechsle) when harvested. The rust outbreaks usually have a reading gradation of 30 ° KMW, from 35 ° KMW they are called essence .
The Ruster Ausbruch is produced on the west bank of Lake Neusiedl in the Leithaberg wine-growing region , especially in the wine-growing village of Rust . The climatic conditions around Lake Neusiedl are unique, as the lake's large water surface acts as a heat and moisture regulator.
history
The Ruster Ausbruch has a centuries-old tradition. The first high point of its production was in the 17th century. This type of wine contributed to the fame and prosperity of Rust. Ausbruchswein from Rust was exclusive and came as a meal accompaniment to the imperial court table in Vienna. In 1681 the Rusters bought the free city right from Emperor Leopold I with 60,000 guilders and around 500 buckets (approx. 30,000 liters) of the Furmint variety.
Cercle Ruster outbreak
In 1991 the Cercle Ruster Ausbruch was founded to promote the image of the Rust outbreak . One of the driving forces from the beginning was the Rust winemaker Heidi Schröck. The Ruster Ausbruch has 12 members (as of 2012), including producers who are among the greats of the Burgenland wine industry. While the Austrian Wine Law stipulates a minimum must weight of 27 ° KMW for the outbreak, the Cercle Ruster Ausbruch has set a minimum must weight of 30 ° KMW for the outbreaks of its members.
