Ruth Boehringer b. Ruth Dyckerhoff (born March 24, 1906 in Amöneburg ; † November 11, 2007 in Ingelheim am Rhein ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

Ruth Dyckerhoff had been married to Ernst Boehringer since 1929, and the two sons Otto and Hans Boehringer came from the marriage. During the Second World War she helped in the hospital. After the end of the war, in cooperation with the Red Cross , she organized clothing and furniture collections for the benefit of prisoners of war, refugees and other needy people. The organization of school meals also attracted her attention. She later founded the Elderly Circle with others . For the first time, older citizens of the city of Ingelheim were able to get together in good company and organize their free time in, for example, craft groups. At her suggestion, a meeting center was set up in the newly built Fridtjof Nansen House in 1958 in cooperation with the local DRK association and Hans-Heinz Eppelsheimer, the director of the adult education center. It was on her initiative that gift packages were also sent back to the former GDR and to less well-off citizens in the city. In 1959 she was awarded the DRK badge of honor , in 1964 the silver pin of honor and in 1967 the state pin in gold. From 1961 to 1979 she headed the local association of the Red Cross in Ingelheim, then she was appointed honorary chairman of the DRK.

On December 15, 1970 Ruth Boehringer was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. In recognition of her social commitment and her personal commitment to elderly or needy citizens in the city, she was awarded honorary citizenship of the city ​​of Ingelheim am Rhein by the city council on December 16, 1985 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Boehringer Ingelheim .
