Ruth Ann Buzzi (born July 24, 1936 in Westerly , Rhode Island ) is an American actress .

Life

Buzzi, daughter of a sculptor, attended the Pasadena Playhouse at the age of 17 and later left it with distinction. She spent her first years on stage with the singer Rudy Vallee before she got the lead role in an off-Broadway revue. She then formed a comic-magician couple with Dom DeLuise and appeared in numerous television programs alongside her own shows. In 1966 she played again on Broadway, in "Sweet Charity". Since the 1970s, she has appeared in numerous television series and her voice can be heard for cartoons and commercials. About twenty films gave her the opportunity to develop her comedic talent.

Her best-known appearances were on the television show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In between 1968 and 1973. In the latter year she also received a Golden Globe for it .
