Ruth Christensen (born February 12, 1929 in Lynge , Nordsjælland ) is a Danish graphic artist who paints with her mouth. She has been a well-known member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists around the World since 1982 . V. (VDMFK).

Live and act

Ruth Christensen was born in Lynge, North Jælland, in 1929. She has four sisters and one brother. At the age of eleven, she lost both arms up to the elbows in an accident . Christensen himself says of the event: “You can imagine what effects the accident had on our family. When I left the hospital, I was determined to live my life as normally as possible. I tried to cope with everyday life as well as possible and got better and better. I used my mouth to put on my dolls and tried to hold a pencil in my teeth, which wasn't that easy. "

Despite the limitations, she was able to continue attending school. She graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen and then worked as a graphic designer in an advertising agency. Her floral and Nordic Christmas motifs found buyers even then. Among other things, she designed the Christmas welfare stamp for the Danish Post and in 1992 the Christmas card for the Council of Europe in Strasbourg .

Since March 1, 1982 Ruth Christensen has been a member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists all over the world. V.

In 1992 she was elected to the board of the association, to which she still belongs to this day.

In 2010 she presented the association to Sophie, Countess of Wessex . She put the then recently published book "Art of Life" of the association at an exhibition of British artists in the Great Hall of Winchester before. The book covers the lives of 36 British artists and their life stories.
