Ruth Poelzig

Ruth Poelzig (born February 24, 1904 in Breslau ; † December 29, 1996 in Mainz-Gonsenheim ) was a German actress .

Live and act

The daughter of the famous architect and film architect Hans Poelzig had already made contact with the film and theater industry through her father as a teenager. Berthold Viertel was her artistic instructor in Dresden in the 1920s . Poelzig made her debut in Kassel , followed by obligations in the German provinces ( Plauen , Gotha - Sondershausen , Remscheid ) (in the 3rd Reich ). Other theater stations were Halberstadt , Zurich , Darmstadt , Berlin , Lübeck and Hamburg .

In 1929 Ruth Poelzig was involved with Werner Finck in founding the cabaret Die Katakombe . Ruth Poelzig, who had never worked for the cinema, joined television in the 1950s. In this decade in particular, the plump artist played a number of supporting roles, but remained active until the early 1970s.

Ruth Poelzig was married to the ZDF journalist Heinrich Ockel.
