Ruth Schnell

Ruth Schnell (* 1956 in Feldkirch ) lives and works as an artist in Vienna.

Life

Ruth Schnell studied art history and psychology at the University of Innsbruck from 1976 , attended the basic class "Visual Design" at the Art University Linz with Laurids Ortner in 1977/1978 . Then she attended the master classes in painting and graphics, art education and craft education. In 1981 Ruth Schnell went to Vienna and studied art education and visual media design with Peter Weibel at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and, from 1982, art education with Edelbert Köb at the Academy of Fine Arts .

Schnell has been teaching digital art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where she qualified as a professor in 2009, since 1987 .

Ruth Schnell has headed the Digital Art department since 2011 (previously founded by Peter Weibel in 1988 as the Institute for Visual Media Design ).
