Edelbert Köb (born March 31, 1942 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian artist and former director of MUMOK .

education

After attending the federal high school in Bludenz, studied painting and graphics as well as art education at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts .

Professional career

As part of Graz 2003, European Capital of Culture, supervised KÖB the project "Locomotive Art is on the train" with GKB - Doppelstockwagen

From 1974 Köb worked as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna , from 1985 to 1995 and 1998 to 2000 as its prorector . In addition, he was President of the Vienna Secession from 1982 to 1991 and director of the Kunsthaus Bregenz from 1990 to 2000 .

From 2001 he was director of the Museum of Modern Art (MUMOK) in Vienna's Museumsquartier and curator of numerous domestic ( Land Art exhibition “nock / art” in Bad Kleinkirchhei 2013, among others) and international exhibitions. In October 2010 he was followed by Karola Kraus as director of MUMOK. Köb has also been a member of the Advisory Board for Fine Arts in the Federal Chancellery since 2001 .

Edelbert Köb lives today as a freelance artist and sculptor in Vienna. He works in the border area between art and design.
