Ruth Shady
Ruth Martha Shady Solís (born December 29, 1946 in Callao , Peru ) is a Peruvian anthropologist and American scholar . She is the initiator and leader of the excavation project Caral , one of the oldest city-like settlements on the American continent, located in Peru, about 200 km north of Lima . The age of Caral and its culture has been dated to 4600 years using the radiocarbon method .
