Sakazume started internationally for the first time in October 2008 in Salt Lake City in the World Cup and finished 28th and 24th over 1500 m each. In the 2010/11 season he was fourth at the team world championships in Warsaw and won the bronze medal over 500 m and the silver medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games 2011 in Astana . In December 2010 in Changchun he reached his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place over 500 m. At the 2013 World Championships in Budapest , he finished ninth in the all-around competition. The following year he ran at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi on the 24th place over 1500 m and on the 22nd place over 1000 m. At the 2016 World Championships in Seoul , he came in 34th place in the all-around event and at the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam, he came 20th in the all- around event . In February 2017, he won the bronze medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Sapporo . At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he reached third place with the relay at the World Cup in Budapest. In the further course of the season he took eighth place over 500 m, seventh place with the relay and fifth place over 1000 m at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . At the World Championships in Montreal , he won the bronze medal with the relay. He also ran there on the 12th place in the all-around.
