Athletic career
Ryan Smeeton gained his first international experience in 2019 when he finished fifth at the Summer Universiade in Naples in 8:40 minutes. He then took part in the Pan American Games in Lima for the first time, where he finished sixth in 8: 41.85 minutes. He also qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Doha , where he did not reach the final with 8: 32.53 min .
