Ryan Anthony Taylor (born August 19, 1984 in Liverpool ) is an English football player .
Career
Wigan Athletic signed Taylor on July 13, 2005 for an undisclosed fee from Tranmere Rovers . They outbid Everton and Norwich City , among others , who had also shown interest in Taylor. He signed a four-year contract in Wigan until 2009.
Ryan Taylor scored his first Premier League goal on February 25, 2007 against Newcastle United . From outside the box, he managed to get the ball behind Newcastle's goalkeeper Shay Given on a 40th-minute free kick . Wigan won that game.
In 2006 Taylor broke his 5th metatarsal bone in the FA Cup game against Leeds United . After recovering, he broke his leg in a game for the reserve team on his first assignment after injury.
At the end of 2007, Taylor managed to re-establish himself in the first team with a strong performance under the new coach Steve Bruce . On December 26, 2007, he shot again with a free kick at Newcastle United, his second league goal.
In February 2009 Taylor left Wigan Athletic and signed a contract with Newcastle United until 2013 . He later extended this until 2015, from which he moved to Hull City after the contract expired .
