Rydal is a village in the Lake District , Cumbria , England .

The place is at the south-east end of Rydal Water on the road from Ambleside to Grasmere . Rydal is best known through the poet William Wordsworth , who lived in Rydal Mount and consists of only a few houses and the church of St Mary besides the Wordsworth house.
