Ryk Neethling (born November 17, 1977 in Bloemfontein ) is a South African swimmer .
Career
Neethling's strength is freestyle swimming , where he swam mostly longer distances before 2000 and since then has concentrated on the 50 m and 100 m courses. He lives, trains and studies in the USA at the University of Arizona . In November 2005 it was announced that Neethling had been offered several million dollars for a change of nationality to Qatar . But Neethling refused.
In 2006 he received the Order of Ikhamanga in silver.

- Fifth at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in the 1,500 m freestyle
- Fifth at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the 1500m freestyle
- Fourth in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester over 100 m freestyle
