Ryksa of Poland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ryksa of Poland (* September 22, 1013 , † May 21, 1075 ) is according to tradition the name of the wife of King Béla I of Hungary . Her first name, however, is not known for certain.

She was born as the daughter of Mieszko II Lambert , the King and Duke of Poland, and his wife Ryksa of Lorraine .

Between 1039 and 1042 she married the later Hungarian King Béla I.

progeny

The couple had at least two sons, Géza I (* 1044/45, † 1077) and Ladislaus I , the saint (* 1048, † 1095), who succeeded their father as kings of Hungary. The number of daughters is not clear. Undisputed as daughters Belas are Sophia († 1095, ⚭ 1. Ulrich I, Margrave of Krain , 2. Magnus, Duke of Saxony ), Euphemia († 1111, ⚭ Prince Otto I of Moravia), Helena († 1095, ⚭ King Zvonimir of Croatia) and another daughter who was married to Count Lambert von Hontpázmány. There is uncertainty, however, about a daughter, traditionally called Maria , who is said to have been married to Andronikos Dukas , the co-emperor of Byzantium, and Lanka, the wife of Rostislav Vladimirovich of Tmutarakan . Some of the daughters and the third son, Lambert, Duke of Southern Hungary († 1095), are also partly attributed to a second marriage between Bela and Tuta von Formbach , which is historically questionable.
