Ryo Un-hui (born August 9, 1994 ) is a North Korean weightlifter . In 2013 she became vice world champion in the weight class up to 69 kg body weight.

Career

Little is known about Ryo Un-hui's origins and career in North Korea. It first appeared in an international championship in 2009. She started this year at the Junior World Championships (U 17) in Chiang Mai / Thailand in the weight class up to 63 kg and achieved 196 kg (91-105) in a duel. She finished 4th in the duel ranking. With her performance in the snap of 91 kg, she became Junior World Champion.

The next start at an international championship she completed in November 2012. She started this month at the Asian Junior Championship (U 20) in Yangoon. She had meanwhile grown into the weight class up to 69 kg. In the duel she achieved there 262 kg (116-146) and thus clearly won ahead of Schasira Schapparkul, Kazakhstan, 232 kg and Wang Xinyue, China, 225 kg (105-120).

In June 2013, Ryo Un-hui was in Astana with a duel of 263 kg (118-145) Asian champion in the weight class up to 69 kg. She relegated her compatriot Rim Jong-sim , who became Olympic champion in this weight class in London in 2012, to second place. The performance of Rim Jong-sim was 255 kg (112-143) in a duel. Because of this result, Ryo Un-hui was preferred to Rim Jong-sim at the 2013 World Championships in Wrocław. In Wrocław she achieved 262 kg (119-143) in a duel and was thus runner-up in the duel behind Xiang Yanmei , China, who came to 271 kg (123-145).

The fact that Ryo Un-hui was only able to take part in a few international championships is also due to the fact that North Korea did not take part in many of these championships for political or economic reasons.
