Rim Jong-sim (born February 5, 1993 in Pyongyang ) is a North Korean weightlifter . She became 2012 Olympic champion in the weight class up to 69 kg body weight.

Career

Rim Jong-sim began lifting weights as a teenager in Pyongyang. The 1.63 meter tall athlete made her first international start at the Junior World Championship (U17) in Chiang Mai / Thailand. She started in the weight class up to 58 kg and came in second with a duel of 212 kg (92-120) behind the Chinese Deng Wei, who achieved 222 kg (98-124) in the duel.

In September 2010 she was used at the World Championships in Antalya in the weight class up to 63 kg. She came there with 231 kg (104-127) on the 5th place. In November 2010 she took 4th place at the Asian Games in Guangzhou / China in the weight class up to 69 kg with 232 kg (103-129).

At the Junior World Championships (U 20) in Penang in 2011, Rim Jong-sim won a medal again in the weight class up to 63 kg. She achieved there in a duel 225 kg (97-128) and came behind Tima Turijewa , Russia, 229 kg (102-127) and Karina Goritschewa, Kazakhstan, 227 kg (100-127) on the 3rd place, her one Brought in a bronze medal.

In 2012, Rim Jong-sim was used at the Olympic Games in London in the weight class up to 69 kg.
