Lin Weining

Lin Weining ( Chinese  林伟宁 , Pinyin Lín Wěiníng , born March 15, 1979 in Changyi , Shandong ) is a Chinese weightlifter .

Career

Lin Weining is from the city of Changyi in the Chinese province of Shandong . She started lifting weights at a sports school in her hometown in 1992. In 1996 she qualified for the Shandong provincial team and shortly thereafter for the Chinese national team. In 1996 she is in the world rankings in the class up to 70 kg body weight with 222.5 kg in a good middle place. In 1999 she set her first world records, which were to be followed by several more. Her greatest success was winning the Olympic gold medal in the class up to 69 kg body weight in 2000 in Sydney . After that, she retired from active sports and studied sports science at Shandong University.
