The S & G Automobil AG is the world's oldest Mercedes-Benz -Vertragspartner. Today the company has ten locations in Baden-Württemberg and one in Rhineland-Palatinate , plus eight locations of the subsidiary S&G Automobil GmbH in Saxony-Anhalt . The brands Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG , smart and Mitsubishi Fuso are sold .
history
The company started in 1898 when Ernst Schoemperlen founded the "Automobil-Centrale" in Karlsruhe. In 1905 the company founder met his future partner Walter Gast. With him as a partner, the company "Schoemperlen & Gast" was founded in 1910. In 1936, Ernst Schoemperlen was succeeded by his son Kurt Schoemperlen and Emil Melchers for Walter Gast. Other managing directors were Edgar Schömperlen, Karl Petri, Hans-Georg Appenzeller and Ottmar Schwab, Manfred Merkel and Wolfgang Ritz. The current management of S&G Automobil AG consists of Achim Quitz and Dr. Jens Thiele. Over the years, the company opened operations in Offenburg (1928), Bruchsal (1957), Achern (1960), Karlsruhe-Knielingen (1961), Wolfach, Kehl, Ettlingen (1968–1969), Karlsruhe-Hagsfeld (1971), Bretten and Pforzheim (2000). For the 100th anniversary in 1998, the company was converted into S&G Automobil Aktiengesellschaft . Today the current company name is S&G Automobil AG .
As early as 1990, S&G started doing business in the former GDR. The subsidiary S&G Automobilgesellschaft mbH Halle / Merseburg was founded in Halle an der Saale. In the following years, companies were opened in Sangerhausen, Querfurt, Eisleben (2001), Aschersleben (2007), Halberstadt (2011) and Quedlinburg (2013). Today the company name is S&G Automobil GmbH .
The S&G Group not only specializes in servicing Mercedes-Benz cars, vans and trucks, but also specializes in special truck conversions. In 1996, the so-called special workshop business, based in Karlsruhe-Knielingen, was further expanded. Today the department is called S&G TruckTechnik . In 2003 TruckTechnik moved to Carl-Metz-Straße in Karlsruhe-Mühlburg and in 2013 to Kandel.
Foundations
To mark the company's 90th anniversary, the Ernst Schoemperlen Foundation was set up with share capital of 100,000 D-Marks, which is dedicated to promoting automotive technology and the automotive industry. In 2000, the S&G Foundation was founded to support accident victims and promote road safety with a focus on children and young people.
