The Südpack packaging group is one of the leading manufacturers of coextruded soft and rigid films , flexible plastic composites and vacuum bags in Europe. One focus is on the printing of foils in flexographic and rotogravure printing as well as in digital printing. The family-run company was founded in 1964 by Alfred Remmele in Ochsenhausen and is being continued in the second generation. Today the Südpack Group produces in five countries around the world and sells its products in 73 countries around the world. In 2017, around 1350 people were employed and sales of over 379 million euros were achieved.

history

In the 1960s, the company was one of the first to develop plastic bags that enable controlled gas exchange, making it a specialist in cheese aging bags. The company grew steadily and opened its first foreign branches in Great Britain and Switzerland in the late 1980s. The subsidiary Ecoform was founded in 1988. In 2002 the Piciotti company in Bioggio, Switzerland was taken over. Today the gravure printing process competence center is located there. Four years later, Südpack opened its customer center for film development. Today the Südpack group focuses primarily on the area of co-extrusion of high barrier films. Particular attention is paid to the development of high-performance, thin materials that help save resources and thus protect the environment.

In 1989, CDP Laboratories was founded in northern France. After a long period of close cooperation, the company was incorporated into Südpack Medica , which had been founded two years earlier, in 2005 . One focus of the company is the production of sterile medical packaging in clean rooms .

The product portfolio of the film manufacturer ranges from multi-layer rigid and flexible films to tubular bag films and top films to convenience solutions for the microwave and pre-made bags. In addition, the company prints its foils in-house with up to twelve colors using gravure printing and up to ten colors using high-quality flexographic printing . Südpack adheres to the highest hygiene and quality standards, which is reflected, for example, in certification according to ISO 9001 (1994), production according to HACCP guidelines (1996) and certification according to BRC / IOP (2003). With the help of the environmental management system according to ISO 14001 introduced in 2009, work is being carried out on the continuous improvement of the resource, waste and energy balance. In the in-house development center, it is possible to test new packaging materials on various packaging machines. These include thermoforming machines, traysealers, vertical and horizontal tubular bag machines. The main markets of the packaging manufacturer, headquartered in Ochsenhausen in Upper Swabia, are meat and sausage products, fish , dairy products , baked goods, but also pet food and technical items.
