São João dos Angolares ( Eng .: Saint John of Angolaria ) is a small village in the southeast of the island of São Tomé and capital of the Caué district in São Tomé and Príncipe . The village is located about 20 kilometers southwest of the capital São Tomé on the eastern coast of the island near several rivers. At the 2013 census, the village had a population of around 2,500, with a large part of the population working in fishing or on plantations . The inhabitants speak Angolar , a Creole language .
São João dos Angolares has its own football club, the UDRA ( União Desportiva Rei Amador ), which plays in the country's top division, the Campeonato Santomense de Futebol .
