São Miguel do Gostoso , officially Município de São Miguel do Gostoso is a seaside resort in the northeast corner of Brazil in the state of Rio Grande do Norte . The official name used to be São Miguel de Touros , but the city was renamed after the resident Miguel Félix, who lived to be over 100 years old and was called Gostoso because of his pleasant manner .

It had 8,670 inhabitants ( IBGE 2010) who live on an area of ​​344 km².

São Miguel do Gostoso is located on the Atlantic Ocean. It is 110 km northwest of Natal and 25 km west of the much busier Touros . The mean annual temperature is 25 °. The rainy season runs from April to July, the rest of the year the sun shines and the constant wind keeps it relatively cool.

Worth seeing

In Praia do Marco , 25 km to the west, there is a duplicate of the first Portuguese “building” from 1501, which the expedition under Gaspar de Lemos left behind in Brazil. The original was taken to the Forte dos Reis Magos in Natal.

Surroundings

São Miguel do Gostoso is located at the northern end of the tourist area around Natal. Quiet beaches and fishing villages, some with dunes and cliffs, characterize the picture.
