São Paio is a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the northern Portuguese district of Arcos de Valdevez . 1143 inhabitants lived in the community (as of June 30, 2011). The municipality belonged to Salvador to the urban area of ​​Arcos de Valdevez.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez (São Paio) and Giela were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Arcos de Valdevez (São Paio) e Giela . Arcos de Valdevez (São Paio) is the seat of this newly formed municipality.
