The Sägeweiher is a small pond in the district of Niederwürzbach , a district of Blieskastel in Saarland .
location
The pond is located in the district of Niederwürzbach northwest of the village in the Sankt Ingbert-Kirkeler forest area directly on the border with Hassel (Saar) . The district boundary is west of the pond. Its water comes from the Geißbach .
history
On a map by the cartographer Tilemann Stella from 1564, a chain of four fish ponds is shown in the Geißbachtal. Only the southernmost, the lower Weyer inn der Fronsbach , has survived as today's saw antler.
Before the Second World War , the Sägeweiher was used as an outdoor swimming pool. Changing rooms were installed on the bank.
Today the pond is a popular destination for hikers.
