Sérgio Godinho
Sérgio Godinho (born August 31, 1945 in Porto ) is a Portuguese poet, musician, composer and singer. He has also appeared in television series and plays, and made a name for himself as a theater director. Occasionally he also appears as an actor, most recently his unusual supporting role in Refrigerantes e Canções de Amor (2016).
history
Sérgio Godinho left Portugal at the age of 20 and only returned to his country after the end of Portugal's colonial wars after nine years of exile for the 1974 Carnation Revolution . He spent most of his time in Paris , where he took part in the musical " Hair " for two years and maintained contact with other musicians in exile such as José Mário Branco , Zeca Afonso and Luís Cília . He also lived in Amsterdam , Brazil and Vancouver . While still in exile in Paris, he recorded the LP Mudam-se os tempos mudam-se as vontades in 1971 with José Mário Branco and in 1972 the solo albums Os sobreviventes and Pré-histórias . Despite the existing censorship in Portugal, these albums gained popularity in Portugal and the album Os sobreviventes (The Survivors) was even voted Record of the Year.
