Sören Urbansky (historian)

Sören Urbansky (* 1980 ) is a German historian .

biography

After a voluntary service at Memorial in Moscow, Sören Urbansky studied cultural studies and history at the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt (Oder), the Heilongjiang University in Harbin, the Kazan Federal University , the University of California, Berkeley and at the Tsinghua University in Beijing as well as Russian and Chinese. In 2014 he completed his doctorate , supervised by Jürgen Osterhammel and Karl Schlögel , with a dissertation on the history of the Sino-Russian border.

From 2009 to 2014 he taught as a research assistant at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , before he became academic advisor at the historical seminar of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich in 2014 . From 2016 to 2017 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge . Since the beginning of 2018 he has been researching the history of anti-Chinese discourses at the German Historical Institute in Washington .
