Søren Kristiansen

Søren Kristiansen (born December 7, 1962 in Ærøskøbing ) is a Danish jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Act

Kristiansen made his debut as a professional jazz musician in 1985 after studying at the Copenhagen Conservatory. Oriented towards role models such as Art Tatum , Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans , he has worked with leading representatives of Danish mainstream jazz such as the clarinetist Jørgen Svare and the saxophonist Jesper Thilo since 1986 , each of whom has released several albums. He also led his own trio and performed as a solo pianist.

Kristiansen developed into a coveted sideman in the Danish jazz scene and accompanied Christina von Bülow , Jeppe Smith-Olsen and Juul Jørgensen on their albums. Over the years he toured with American guest soloists such as Harry Sweets Edison , Al Gray , Clark Terry , James Moody , Art Farmer , but also with Putte Wickman and Rolf Ericsson . He also has the music for the film Springet of Henning Carlsen composed and recorded.

Prizes and awards

Kristiansen received the Ben Webster Prize in 1992 and the Danish Jazz Prize in 1995. In 2001 his first recording as a leader ( Very Early… Very Late ) was nominated for a Danish Grammy. He received the Pala Bar's Jazz Prize in 2007 and was also honored in 2007 for his first solo album With a Song in My Heart .
