The Sørvágsfjørður [ ˈsøːrvɔksˌfjøːrʊr ] is a fjord of the Faroe Islands on the west of the island of Vágar to the island of Mykines .

It takes its name from the town of Sørvágur . Another place is Bøur on the north bank, which is particularly suitable for pilot whales in the Faroe Islands . Further outside the fjord entrance, Gásadalur lies above the coast. The southern entrance of the fjord is marked by the Tindhólmur .

From Sørvágur you have a view over the fjord to Mykines . The route is served daily by the Brynhild mailboat. At the same time, Sørvágsfjørður is the approach lane for Vágar Airport .
