The Südbahnmuseum Mürzzuschlag is located in Heizhausgasse in the northeast of the Mürzzuschlag train station in the municipality of Mürzzuschlag in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district in Styria . As part of the train station, the museum is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The sponsor of the museum is the Friends of the Southern Railway, founded in 2003 . The Southern Railway Museum was created for the 150th anniversary of the Semmering Railway and was opened on June 10, 2007.

Several locomotives from the ÖBB and the Technisches Museum Wien are on loan, including one of the classic SB 629 series locomotives . In addition, many draisines and motorized railroad cars can be seen in the locomotive shed , which were used for maintenance and repair work.

Exhibitions
